Jaguar XE S Pricing and Specs Revealed for Australia

Great news Australians! We have the official pricing and specs for the Australian version of the Jaguar XE S.

The Jaguar XE S will be powered by the 250kW/450Nm 3.0-litre supercharged V6 from the F-Type. The engine will be mated to the same 8-speed automatic gearbox that the F-Type has, and claims to have a 0-100 km/h time of 8.1 seconds. One other difference between the standard models and the XE S is the adaptive sport suspension.

And all this for $104,200!

Now let's see how the Jaguar XE S will compete against some of its rivals. It will be directly competing with yet to be released vehicles, like the BMW 340i and the Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG.

The BMW 340i will come with a 240kW/450Nm 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine, and the Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG is powered by a 3.0-litre twin turbo V6 engine that produces 270kW/520Nm.

The XE S is competing about on par in terms of power, but Jaguar is really banking on the XE S standing out because of its ride and handling which should be excellent due to aluminium construction and a sophisticated suspension setup.

I've seen a few reviews making reference to the Jaguar XE's amazing handling and now I can't wait for it to be available in America so I can test it out on every twisty road near me.

That is something i'll want to test for myself in comparison to the BMW 3 series since that's one of its direct rivals. Might be tough to beat BMW.

You are right that it's tough to beat, but I have read in several reviews that it does in fact beat the BMW. At the very least it is so close that it is a subjective measure in the end.

I'm pretty sure the Jaguar XE beats the BMW when it comes to handling with it's almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution and amazing suspension.

If that ends up being the consensus in reviews, I wonder what (if anything) BMW will do in response.

It may be too late for them to do much to their 2016 models but maybe BMW will do something with the models after that.

I actually might expect them to just do more of a media push instead of technological changes. They might just try to counter the rhetoric through marketing.

Caradvice aren't Jag fanboys, and this is what they had to say http://www.caradvice.com.au/365574/j...ew-track-test/

I think based on reviews that for the time being, the XE S has a significant edge. I drove the XE 2.0T and the handling as a daily drive is just awesome. It feels like you are driving a tiny car, I thought much closer to the f type than the XF, but without the f type jarring over the bumps.
