Great news everyone!

Jaguar has announced the starting price for the XE sedan. It will start at $45,000 for the base 20t model. That model is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. It produces 180 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque.

Pricing for the more expensive models have yet to be announced, but Canadian customers will be able to buy the 35t as well which is powered by Jaguar's supercharged 3.0-litre V6. It produces 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.

Just to put the XE's pricing in the context of its competitors, here are the Canadian prices of a number of its rivals.

Audi A4: $38,500
BMW X3: $44,350
Mercedes-Benz C-Class: $43,000

As you can see, Jaguar has priced the XE above its competitors, but it is still pretty much on par with the prices that BMW and Mercedes-Benz are dishing out

Not a bad price especially when you factor in the cost of the extra comforts that the other brands require.

When the options are factored in, do the competitors actually end up costing more?
The X3 ended up to be around 50k if I added some of the trims I want, not all.
That's quite a lot to be paying for an X3... after looking at cost of maintenance and overall ownership I would start looking into other options from BMW, even if that means going the slightly used route, just need to make sure there's sufficient warranty.

A while ago I had considered the X4 vs the Mercedes Benz equivalent, the BMW cost way more. It was actually really surprising. Not sure why one would buy one over the other when the discrepancy in price is so great.
With the additional warranty, the Jaguar XE is a steal compared to the other models.

Even without it's okay in the sense that Jaguars are really good quality. You shouldn't be as likely to have problems as buyers of other brands. That is why they have the longer warranty -- they know that people won'y have to use it super often.
The standard features for the Jaguar XE base model is still not out for the Canadian site. Are we getting something more or less than the rest of the world? Not sure how much those missing options will cost when you add them in individually.

My guess is they are waiting on the Canadian auto show to release that information. A show that usually takes place in Toronto around mid-February.
That's odd. The American Jaguar site doesn't have the standard features confirmed either... Guess that's their way of forcing you to physically walk into their dealerships.
Specd xe at $68k. Similar specd c450 at $64k. Not sure if xe is worth more at this pt...drove XE last wk but haven't c450.
Probably should test out the c450 before deciding to write off the Jaguar XE . The XE could handle better than the other one.
Looks like a great car, would love to upgrade my lease at DSRLeasing to grab one. Bumping old thread cause it already was bumped by the way :p
