The Autocar article is highly speculative. Jaguar were saying that they wouldn't rule it out. One remark of note is that they said that they'd need a different platform to be competitive. i.e. the advanced aluminium architecture platform is too expensive to go lower than the XE. Given that they spent zillions developing the AAA, which has not earned them any cash yet except for deposits on XE's, I don't think that they'll be developing a whole new platform soon.
