Honestly this wasn't even too much insight as to how the XE is in the long term... but... it was an informative review nonetheless.. I guess.

We’ve noted in the past that, at 455 litres, the XE’s boot is smaller than those of its rivals from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, but videographer James Holloway said he was impressed by how our swallowed all of his gear.
getting in and out of the rear cabin isn’t exactly dignified. You have to remember to dip your head more than you would in other saloons, or receive a painful reminder halfway down, and once you’re in, it isn’t what you’d call spacious.

That's some intense loading going on in your trunk. Thankfully these days car makers are covering up where the trunk arms are since back in the day you didn't have those and had to leave space for where they'll move as to not crush you cargo.

It got bad enough with my previous cars that for some I got a roof top carrier and with how small the trunk is on the XE, that might be something I look into. Fortunately I would use the roof rails for more than that, I go Skii's and Snowboarding, so those can be thrown up their as well.
