Well better late than never. I've had 2 XFs (2008 4.2 and 2012 5.0) and now a 2011 XKR which I have to say is the most awesome machine ever and more than compensates for the fact that I can only justify it because my kids no longer want to be in a car with me.

My missus has a v40T5 CC which is a very lovely car but I'm keen to add the XE to the garage, I think she has always loved the Jags herself and she doesn't even try to feign disinterest in the XE.

So not driving enough to justify a diesel, our quandary is 2.5T vs 3.0 S, or more to the point, will I pay the huge premium just to get from 0 - 100 in 5.0 instead of 6.7? Given that the XE S costs about 30% more that the 2.5T R Sport here, they are some very expensive seconds...

Welcome to the forum! I can't really help you with your dilemma since it's entirely up to you. If you feel the need for those extra seconds than by all means go for it. If you don't the 2.5T R Sport is still amazing for general use.

One thing I noticed is that most people don't need it, unless they're the type to hit the track, then there's some reason for it, anything to beat your buddies since you know what they say... it don't matter whether you win by an inch or a mile... winning is winning :D

Gooday, I've ordered an IRR 2.5T R-sport, 19" silver venoms, sunroof, HUD, oyster and jet leather and a few other options (power boot, flash mats, tint, solar glass etc). I just rang around dealers and one had this one coming in so I grabbed it even though it had a lot of options I wouldn't have normally ordered, it was a pretty reasonable deal as far as car transaction go, which probably means great for the dealer and not so much for me rather than awesome for the dealer and terrible for me. It is on the boat at the moment and I should get it by the end of November. Mainly it is my missus' car but I think I'll be pinching it a lot because I loved driving the 20T.

Very excited. The missus is as well, I think she has always wanted a Jag since her childhood, and as much as her v40T5 CC has been nice, it's not a Jag.
