Problems with in-dash electronic systems are a “growing reliability plague” for many automakers, Consumer Reports said in its latest Annual Auto Reliability Survey. The report attempted to predict the reliability of 2015 models currently in dealer showrooms by evaluating models from past years.

A lot of the problem is the infotainment and electronic systems in cars. Those systems are becoming more and more complex and important to the car. I think their importance is growing faster than automakers are making them better. They are playing catch-up.

I have CUE in my ATS and Enform in my company car minus some nit picks they are not that bad IMO.

BMW's system is the best in the game, one which competing companies need to look into.
I have also heard some really bad stuff about the CUE system but overall it doesn't seem to be a deal breaker for people interested in GM vehicles. Clearly it wasn't for @ATS2XES

I've heard that the QNX based systems are best. Really I don't hear good things about many systems though. it is usually the bad systems that get all the press I guess.

It was and still is a plus to my purchase IMO
I like it a lot better than the Enform in my Lexus company car.
Though I am disgruntled with how GM handled CUE because it isn't easy getting the updated firmware for it.

It's all part of what they need to set the standard for their brand and to set the stage on their end in preparation for the direction the industry is growing, we'll just have to learn to live with it.

Usually automakers pair with a tech firm to make the infotainment systems. There is an android platform and an apple platform. Not sure if every car maker pairs with a tech firm or if there are some that are completely doing their own thing.

I heard about Android L coming out, haven't looked much into it but it seems like it will have a cooler more animated experience sort of like apple's iOS, which should even help with making the in car experience a bit better.

So when and in what car will we be seeing this Android L system first?

It might be GM they have some sort of exclusive deal with an Android based auto system that will start showing up in 2016 GM models.
The deal allows GM first use a head of other car companies.

I had the chances to play around with the Samsung Note 4 for a few minutes at best buy, it runs Android L and comparing that to my Note 3.... I haven't noticed any significant differences, but it's an improvement, which is what matters.

So do you mean that it is just faster? There must be some differences or else, well, they wouldn't be that different at all, would they?
