Diesel Exhaust pipes?

42316 Views 40 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Kingpin
Hi all,

I am about to order a 180hp diesel XE.

The Dutch brochure states that the 180hp diesel has two exhaust pipes, one left and one right. But Jaguar The Netherlands and my dealer tell me that all diesels have twin pipes on one side...

Does anyone know about this?

Thanks in advance!
Marc.

I'm not sure if we have actually seen a diesel XE at any auto shows so it is hard to say.

What would you prefer?
I can't say for sure, but I do know XF diesel for example does only have the single side exit...
Hi all,

Just got a email from my dealer... The XE R-Sport (blue) on the Paris Autosalon had two pipes on the left. The badge showed "2.0D" ...so it was the 180hp Diesel.

I prefer pipes to the left and right. But when trying to order the special gloss back skirt, Jaguar told me it cannot be fitted to the 2.0D.
There's a good chance some diesel models may show up at the shows coming up in the next few months.
It actually doesn't look too bad with a single exhaust output, but i'd prefer it with a dual setup for a more symmetrical look.
yea I think the symmetry would look better, but that is not to say that the double pipes to one side looks bad.
My dealer sent me similar pics... I have to admit that I can live with them... saves me some money for a more expensive extra set of wheels.... :)

So do you have an idea of what wheels you are going to get? Are you choosing from Jaguar's or going aftermarket?

Thanx! My current Merc has slightly more aggresive wheels, just a little bit too much according to many people>:D

Tomorrow I'll sign the order papers, I seems I'm the first one to order the new XE at my dealer...

Congrats, do share the details of the build when you can! :D
the xf diesel has two large chrome pipes on all the models apart from the 4 cylinder 2.2,to be honest most v engines are generally fitted with twin exhausts inline 4 cylinder engines generally have one pipe,it does look better with two pipes ,but then again if it is not a v6 or v8,it only needs toe one pipe ,also sves weight !!

yes but next to none of them are offering you a true dual. The manifolds come together shortly after exit and separate just before rear exit. There are actually no benefits to that type of dual system aside from cosmetics...
Got to love what a dual setup look like, i always hated singles.

Hi Kink,

Here's my build configuration (may change...)

  • 180hp Diesel, automatic transmission
  • Prestige edition
  • Ammonite Grey
  • Teint (dark) windows
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Oyster interior
  • Business pack (navigation, etc.)
  • Winter pack (Xenon, heated chairs)
  • Extra: full chrome grille
  • Extra: set 18" 5 star diamond wheels (I use the default 17" for my winter tires)

The Ammonite Grey is a brain breaker.... I like the grey color car in the official pictures (also on the Paris Autosalon)... My dealer cannot confirm that this is definitely the Ammonite Grey.

cheers
