We just got back from a trip to Las Vegas (a reunion with navy buddies, not gambling), which is about 8 1/2 hrs each way. We spent most of our trip on either freeways or multi lane roads with relatively little traffic, so I averaged 63 MPH for the trip. I spent quite a bit of the trip at 70 - 80 MPH with short stretches up to 90 MPH. At the high cruising speed there was no wind noise, the music was great (listening to Siris 60's music), and the car handled beautifully. Going over the Tahatachapi the car held curves at 70 - 75 MPH perfectly and always had plenty of power in reserve. When we got home the dash computer said that I averaged 35.6 MPG and at the speed I was traveling I'm very happy with that average.

The bottom line is this is a very comfortable, great looking economical vehicle that has plenty of power and handles great. Jaguar hit a home run with this car.

Thanks for the update!

Glad to hear all went well on the long trip and you were enjoying it the whole way. Comfort is a huge thing that I find is more important than mpg will ever be. But when you have both, who's complaining? ;)

Glad to get your confirmation of comfort although that's one area I've known Jaguar to excel in.
From other reviewers apparently its better than the Cadillac ATS, and we all know the sort of things Cadillac stands for!

What did you own previously?

I had a Mercedes E-350 Blu Tec. The Mercedes was like floating down the road. Comfortable, lots of power and rock steady, just not fun. I also have a 2014 VW Jetta Sportwagen 6 sp manual TDI, which is quick, fun and comfortable. The Jag kinda fits between the two. Not quite as luxurious as the Mercedes and not quite as quick and nimble as my VW, but a great compromise between the two.

That is a great comparison. So in the scenario with the vehicles that you have, when does each vehicle primarily get used. For example, E-350 long drives, Jetta TDI for occasional run arounds, and Jag for daily duties? (random break down, just used for example sake)

Streamline, I traded the Mercedes in when I bought the Jag. The Jag is primarily my wife's car and it's the only new Jag in this area, so she loves to take it to any official functions to let everyone ooooh and Ahhhhh over it (she's involved in the fringes of local politics). The British Racing Green has some heavy metal flake so it really pops in the sun. I use the VW for daily chores because it gets great fuel mileage (even better than the Jag) and since we live up in the foothills with mostly two lane twisty roads the VW with a standard transmission is even more fun to drive than the Jag, so I usually grab it for most local trips. We've taken two trips to Mexico with the VW (we go down the East Coast of the Baja) and I love taking the VW because even cruising at 70 - 75 MPH I get great fuel mileage and with the rear seats folded down the little sport wagen carries all of our luggage plus a large cooler for bringing home fresh fish and shrimp. My VW is a 2014 and I already have 65,000 miles on it, so it gets well used. Besides, I wouldn't take my Jag to Mexico. Too chancy.

In addition to the cars I have my Nissan Titan for any hauling beyond what my VW hauls (I have a frame mounted hitch on the VW and tow my trailer with my ATV. My friends tow their ATV's with their 3/4 ton trucks. We often tow up over the Sierra Nevada mountains) and I amaze them by staying right on their butt with my little VW, and while they get 8 - 10 MPG I'll get more like 32 MPG.

So the bottom line is that the Jag is used primarily for more formal type functions and the truck is used for heavy hauling. The VW is used for everything else.

I hope you plan on test driving the new G70 when it comes out. Hearing your taking on it would be interesting, since of course you come from Hyundai and own the XE.

G70 should be the closest thing to an XE.

Hi All, not sure if this is the correct place to post, but seems this was the most active XE owners forum. I recently became the fortunate owner of a 2017 XE 35t awd RSport, and have been quite impressed by the driving dynamics, handling, and the power of the supercharged V6. I've put a couple of thousand miles on the car and have enjoyed it quite a bit. However, I am hoping to get some input on an issue that I seem to be having with the car. The vehicle was initially misaligned with unbalanced tires upon picking it up. It would not track straight and I was feeling a lot of vibration through the steering wheel. After contacting the dealer, they happily took the car in, completed a road force balance, aligned it to spec and replaced a front left tire from another car. After picking up the car, the vibration was eliminated, yet it pulled to the left. The pull worsened over a matter of a month and they took it back and stayed the toe on the rear wheel was out and it was remedied. I believe they did their due diligence and upon getting the car back, it tracked ok after the second dealer visit. About 3-4 weeks later, the vehicle seems to track ok on back roads, but is frustrating to drive in the left lane since it wants to go left into the median once you let go of the wheel momentarily. I recently did a test drive with the foreman who is quite thorough and he felt it was the character of the chassis and suggested I simply wasn't used to the steering. He also indicated that it was normal to keep constant effort on the steering wheel to keep the vehicle from wanting to go to the left in the passing lane. This issue seems to occur on any highway I drive in the leftmost lane. I had a long discussion with their foreman and they even let me drive a similar new car with him. The new car exhibited similar pull to the left, albeit to a smaller degree. They are trying to convince me it's the chassis design of the car and sensitivity of the steering on the road which is normal. Personally I feel that a vehicle should want to track straight by design, and it's Inna rural for a driver to have to force the wheel to constantly stay straight to keep the car in the lane. My question is, is this something particular to the XE? Is it something to do with the Pirelli Cintuarato tires, or am I expecting too much of a luxury sedan to want to track straight in the left lane of any highway? It seems to get worse over 50 mph and I could make it go into the median or jersey barrier by simply accelerating to 70+mph. My worry is that a momentary lapse in steering could send me into the left divider..... Any input or experience with an XE Jag would be much appreciated. I am coming from an S4 3.0supercharger (also with electromechanical steering) that always tracked straight after three sets of tire changes over my ownership experience, multiple tire switched and over 3 Years of no alignments or balancing jobs. I guess that is the benchmark I am using, but open o any input someone has. I have wondered whether this is due to tire pull, a flat spot in a tire, or a defective radial tire issue. I don't want to make the dealership buy new tires because I suspect it, but feel this takes away from the vehicle experience and would be unlikely to get another jaguar after this if it's a car design issue. Any light Folks can shed is much appreciated!

Hey, if it is possible you could divide your post into paragraphs as it's pretty long and hard to read :p Just a suggestion tho, according to your question I haven't really experienced that nor did my buddy from DSRLeasing, I'll give it a further check though.

Wondering if any new XE owners have experienced their vehicles pulling left on the highway. I am asking specifically in reference to my above-captioned question I posted a year ago. My issue has not resolved one bit and am wondering if this is particular to these cars or just my car.
