Jaguar is developing a brand new type of HUD that spans the entirety of the windshield. The "Virtual Windscreen" will display information on your windshield in real time, and Jaguar has come out with a short video to sample what the technology will enable you to do.

A virtual line can be displayed on the road that shows the driver the best way to take a corner. It will change color based on when the brakes should be applied. Drivers can also race against a virtual version of themselves. That feature reminds me of something straight out of a video game.

Images will appear 3D without the need to wear any kind of special glasses. This is due to eye-tracking technology. The display will also show things like speed, rpms, fuel level and other essential car stats.

No word on when we will see this technology in a production vehicle though.

if their aim is to make the brand more of a performance brand and better the experience for customers that buy vehicles of theirs that are largely based on performance, then this can help to better their experience behind the wheel.

Overall it's about a better driving experience, at least they took it beyond just basic things like speed, rpm, and other things you need to know. Might as well take advantage of that tech and add even more value to it. Plus it ties into them making safer vehicle as now your eye are on the road more, rather than looking down at your dash or infotainment screen

It will to some extent but at least your can still see the road with you already looking at the windshield.

For all we know they may limit some things when the vehicle is in motion and enable them when stopped
I don't know how that is going to work when in the video they show the whole XE's windshield being used as a guide for racing on a track.
