Jaguar has notably been absent from major motorsports competition since Jaguar Racing became Red Bull Racing back in 2004. Today Sky News is reporting that Jaguar is heading back to single seater Formula series, just not the one you might have expected.
Sky says that they have it on good authority that the big bosses at JLR will unveil the plans at a press conferences next Tuesday, the 15th of December 2015.
Sky also claims that the Formula E announcement will coincide with a commitment to build a road going EV in the near future. It's believed that JLR will be working closely with the Williams group of Formula 1 fame.
JLR feels like Formula E is the ideal place to develop new technologies for its road cars.
"It offers live testing for electrification technologies in areas such as batteries and drive-trains; that's why it looks valuable to them," said one insider.
