London will lead petrol development and Oxford will handle diesel..Jaguar Land Rover invests in two new ‘Centres of Excellence for Engine Combustion Research’ at the University of Oxford and University College London
£1m research projects will use the latest physical, optical and simulation resources to explore advances in spark and compression ignition combustion, targeting higher engine efficiency
This research will support the future development of Jaguar Land Rover’s new Ingenium family of compact, lightweight, high-efficiency diesel and petrol turbocharged engines

I wonder what kind of goals they have for this project and how far in the future they are thinking. What would you like to see from the next-gen of Jaguar engines? What targets should they set?
specific targets I have no clue, but what they are looking to do is maximize the amount of energy used per combustion cycle. Atkinson cycle (hybrid) engines for example use all the available energy in a combustion cycle, however the way they go about it maximizes efficiency and limits performance. Jag im sure is looking to have the cake and eat it too..I wonder what kind of goals they have for this project and how far in the future they are thinking.
