Details of the new Jaguar XE are trickling out and while it was known that a diesel engine would be available for international customers, it’s now being reported that the diesel powerplant will be available when the car launches in the US.

This comes from Automotive News, explaining that the car is going to be in showrooms in late 2016 in order to offer the diesel option to US buyers. There are 2.0-liter diesels in the newly introduced Ingenium family of motors, although both of them aren’t yet compliant with US emissions standards. One engine puts out 161 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque while the more powerful engine boasts 177 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque.
US customers should also expect an all-wheel drive option to be available at launch. Jaguar has made a big push to offer all-wheel drive on the majority of their vehicles, and the XE is no exception. Also available will be a supercharged V6 engine with 340 hp. The new sports sedan will come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The XE is also boasting a lower curb weight than many of its competitors thanks to a modular, aluminum architecture.
