Jaguar has issued two recalls these past two months for the XE.

One recall was from last month and it is for both the Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF units. They're being recalled due to defective low pressure hood fuel supply lines that could detach from the fuel filter. If the hoses gets displaced, fuel will leak out which will starve the engine of fuel and cause the car to stop or even catch on fire.

For those of you in Australia, you may want to contact your dealership and check if your 2017 Jaguar XE is on the seat belt recall list.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will be overseeing the recall of 66 vehicles within the Vin range of SAJAB4AG1HA942566 to SAJAB4AG1HA944169.

Jaguar has found a problem with the seatbelt pre-tensioner and in case of an accident, the pre-tensioner may not operate as required and may increase the chance of injury. This defect was caused by incorrect wiring of the vehicle’s restraints control module.

If your vehicle is on the list, Jaguar should be notifying you soon and they'll advise you to bring in your vehicle for repairs. To fix it, they'll simply rewire the restraints control module connector.

Fire is indeed a big concern especially since that fuel can find its way to a hot component that will easily ignite it, the catalytic converter being one of them, even the headers, just about anything that gets that hot... headers back?

Might be a good idea to buy a fire extinguisher and keep it in your car, mounted on a pillar, just in case. If you happen to have something important in your car, the last thing you want is for it to turn to ashes like some parts of the car would.

Most definitely. A fire extinguisher I think should always be in the car. Doesn't have to be huge, but a good size that you can place it somewhere easily accessible. That fuel hose recall sounds real dangerous

Well, a fire extinguisher is a good thing for any vehicle. In some European countries (Belgium, Greece etc.), you must have a fire extinguisher in your car by law, so I don't see any problems with it.

I read an interesting thread in another Jaguar forum, about extinguishers in your car with you.

We debated whether you’re more likely to grab the extinguisher during a fire situation:

If the extinguisher is mounted somewhere in the seating cabin with you…

If the extinguisher is mounted in the trunk (boot)…

The argument was, no matter how “cool under pressure” you imagine you will be in a fire… when that fire emergency breaks out right beside you in the tight cabin of your car, human impulse will be to leap out the door, scramble away---and leave the poor extinguisher attached inside the hot cabin for a few seconds before you rush back to it.
At that point, you may as well have the extinguisher in the trunk. After you’re initial impulse you’ll have to double back for the extinguisher either way, but at least in the trunk it’s a safer distance from the heat, smoke, and possible combustion, when you go reaching in for it.

I’m convinced they are right about the theory that most will impulsively dive out first.

So the trunk is my preferred place. Especially since, if I’m giving a lift to a hot lady, seeing a fire extinguisher beside her in the cramped cabin won’t do much for her confidence that I can drive her around in this sweet machine without wrecking it.

Where was the Recall on the fuel supply line listed? Is it a TopIX notification?
