The Jaguar XE will be built on a new production line at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant near Birmingham in the English midlands.

It’s the first car to be built at Solihull since the early 1980s when the Rover 2000, 2300 2500 and 3500 five-door and Triumph TR8 sports car were built there. Since then, Solihull production has been dedicated to Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs.

Construction on the XE’s new production line is nearly complete. The sprawling Solihull plant, which dates back to World War II but has been modernized in recent years, currently builds the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender models, all of which are have aluminum bodies.

and who says the UK doesn't produce anything anymore! Would you happen to have any word if the XE will also be coming out of one of their Indian facilities for SE Asia? Or perhaps even a Chinese plant....

The XE will be built in China, at a later date, Pune has not the facility as yet, as they are currently expanding for another JLR model, Saudi will not see XE and Mexico might if the sales figures are big enough to warrant the many millions of further funding.

JLR UK will have enough on its hands with the XE, XE-C, XE-SB and convertible version, along with the new XF, LR2, Defender and QX all within the next few years.

Do you think if the demand is appropriate Jaguar would consider production at an American facility? Although I suppose they don't move nearly enough volume to justify?

curious on your take...
