The pictures and scenery do look great. Seems slightly strange though since there are many other places in Australia that have bigger audiences. I suppose this is just the event though, it will obviously be sold all over Australia.
If anyone decides to sneak in or look in from the outside:The Australian importer is so impressed with the region, venues and goods and service providers that it will not hesitate to bring another model to be showcased in the tropics again.
About $1.6 million of 23 XEs have been put through their paces on the region’s roads since Monday, continuing until next week.
This came from a Cairns news source: http://www.cairnspost.com.au/lifestyle/jaguar-chooses-cairns-to-launch-its-crucial-new-xe-luxury-car/story-fnjpuwet-1227490507160Lunches are being hosted at the Salt House in Cairns and Nu Nu Restaurant at Palm Cove, while dinner and overnight accommodation is at Sea Temple Port Douglas.
Makes sense then. Most likely branding the XE as a luxurious car for the carefree lifestyle. Have you seen pictures of the Sea Temple Port Douglas and the Salt House? Both locations look amazing yet it has a relaxed beach feeling.
Sounds like a place you need to go with your own bubble to live in. LolCairns is quite pretty and it is pretty much on the tropic of Capricorn from memory so it gets extremely hot and muggy. This time of year is good, the weather is fine. From maybe November on it is ferociously hot and sweltering, but the deadly box jellyfish and occasional crocodile keep you out of the water.
There is a lot of luxury there, but also a large contingent of indigenous Australians with quite a bit of squalor and social problems as well.
So ultimately as nice as Cairns is, you have to be careful of the water (Box Jellyfish, kill you in minutes), wading (stonefish, kill you in a lot longer but excruciating pain), sunbaking (crocodiles), bushwalking (taipans, one of the most venomous snakes in the world, then death adders - very venomous and quite lazy, wait for you to step on them before expressing their displeasure), parks (itinerants), and forests (drop bears).
I was joking about the last one, the rest are real.
