Jaguar XF will use XE's aluminum architecture

The upcoming XF will grow in size to separate it from the smaller XE sedan, and it will also use Jaguar Land Rover's new iQ[Al] aluminum architecture.

Given that the XF will be using sharing architecture, people are also assuming that it will use the new family of Ingenium engines that will be powering the smaller XE. That could be the 2.0-liter four-cylinder while the XE will also be available with the supercharger V6 that's found in the F-Type.

We can also expect the XF to adopt the XE's aluminum double-wishbone front suspension.

Good news.

This should help them cut costs by a good amount, no need for ground up development, good platform to work with here.
True. Great cost saving strategy. I wonder if the same architecture will be used for even more vehicles past the XF? What is the usual amount of vehicles that a single architecture underpins?

that's a tough question, i don't think there is any set amount, it will vary.
this is to be their modular architecture. Something that can proliferate and amortise throughout the lineup...
can't wait to see what else they do with it.
What other vehicles might they throw onto it?

Aside from the XE, I have yet to hear about anything else to come from Jaguar.
Is there anything actually planned for the platform, or are we just speculating abstractly right now? I think it would be cool to do a wagon for jaguar and that could work with the modular architecture.
Looking into it.... i know they want to bring out an SUV.... but I doubt it would be on this platform unless it's a compact SUV aimed at the Macan from Porsche.

A compact and mid-sized SUV could very well be what they plan on doing, why not both?
A compact SUV that is also focused on performance should to well when it comes to competiting with the Macan, maybe being one of the better competitors.
