Hi all,

I just got an email from my dealer: build date is confirmed for April 24th with a scheduled delivery in the NL for May 29th...

VIN codes are also known.... just a few more weeks :)

Niiiice. I'm excited lol. The last time I ordered a car new it took three months to get it after the chassis number was assigned.

Great to have a firm date. Us in NA will be looking to the Europeans to get our first impressions and looks at the XE from real owners. Very exciting.
Thanx all!

Just inspected the information in more detail:

  • Order created at 07/11/2014 (I ordered at the dealer mid-October)
  • Last date of order change is 23/02/2015

Dutch dealers are now informing prospective buyers that demo vehicles will be available from June 14th. I guess that I will drive my XE just days before the demo's are available :)

I'll keep monitoring JLR Topix system to see how production, etc. proceeds...

Have a nice weekend!
Marc.

After going through a few new vehicles that is also what I found to be the average time for just about any mainstream vehicle, 3 months.

Cheers Marc, congrats. Any chance you could take some screen shots? We don't need to know your specific information, just visual confirmation?

It's not on Topix right now, Manxxy. When it appears (in the next few days), I'll give you some more info!
does any one know what first allocations are like?
Good news Marc, congrets. Looking forward to see real live pics !,

To start, that will vary from dealer to dealer. Will be a great question for people to ask their dealers to share on here.
And Yes! Today (May 6th) my car appeared on JLR's TOPIx system, proof that is has been built!

Correction: It has been build. TOPIx give much more info (complete specs) and displays the actual build date (May 4th 2015, one week later than scheduled).
Just received a mail by my dealer, car to be produced in early June and to be delivered in Aix En Provence on July 15th :D

Good news!

So delivery to Europe takes 5 to 6 weeks it seems... Added to my build date of May 4th this means that my car should arrive in the first or second week of June... Dealer told May 29th.. so let's see where this ends :)

I was thinking exactly the same thing..... To count your delivery in order to estimate a possible improvement for mine ;)

I hope my dealer was right... which makes you and me happier a few weeks earlier!

That's why i love forums. Easy way to stay on top of things.

And at times, you're more on top of things than more at your local dealership!

But it's not like dealership folk will think you are.

You're so right. I think that most dealers don't understand that buying a car is an emotional process for people. They deal with their cars like a grocery with potatoes: Just stuff they sell....

Imagine how the buying process would be when the dealer keeps informing you with news, links to great forums like this one, maybe a small gift, etc...

I run my own company and have learned that the best sales investmenys are relations. Keep in touch with your customers, especially AFTER the actual sale...

Lets keep on dreaming :)
Another order confirmed

had a word with my local dealer for a small change in my order.
unfortunately the order was closed already the 29th but the good news was that I could expect my car the first week of July instead of the first week of August :)

Expected some delays on JLR's new production line but they doing well ...

Great news Barry! Enough time to cruise in the summer :)

What change did you plan to do?
