Aluminium is highly susceptible to corrosion from salt. For those who live in coastal regions with high salt concentration in the air and those who live in snowy regions where salt is the primary road de icer you may be in for a nasty surprise or two...

I assume that Jaguar has done things to protect the aluminum from breaking down, but it is still something worth thinking about. It would be pretty disastrous to have XEs running around with salt damage on them. I'm sure jaguar thought of this and did some cold weather testing.

It's something they should mention, i hope. i'm sure a lot of poeple are asking the same question

Bicycle parts like handlebars, crank arms and seat posts in aluminium last very well during the winter, even over here, where they put a lot of salt on the roads. I think they are eloxated (oxydated), which gives them a matte look. Shiny aluminum like it was often used on finer bicycle rims and hubs some years ago doesn't last well in the salty conditions.

@Muenster good point, i do recall seeing bicycles in the winter that appear to have no rust, even one's in not so great shape.
hopefully jaguar see's the concern people have here with aluminum and provide answers on what they have done in this case.
