Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else has had a water leak filling up the backseat foot well behind the drive?

I had it fixed twice and both times it was soaked after rain.

It's back at the dealer and they are going to work with Jaguar USA to replace the car.

Apparently there was a recall for this but I was never notified. Anyway, hopefully it's replaced. Anyone else run into this with their XE?

Not that I can recall from the forum. Make sure to tell the dealership to thoroughly dry the area that was soaked, wouldn't want moisture to just sit there.

They actually replaced the rugs and had it for 5 days the first time.

The second time they dried and a few other things to prevent corrosion.

The third time I said don't bother. I want a new car at this point and they have started the process with Jaguar USA to get approvals to swap the car out.

I called Jag also when I saw the water again the third time and they also said they will open a case to replace it with the dealer. So far seems like they are going to give me a new one altogether.

I brought the car to them Friday and they have had it since then. They gave me a RR Evoque in the meantime. Which came in handy since it snowed like crazy the next day lol

Glad to hear that they're working with you in getting it replaced completely. Any idea where the water is coming from though or any information on the recall ? Lol the Evoque was a blessing in disguise haha.

So the recall was for an A Pillar seal.

That's what they "fixed" twice.

But when I brought it to the dealer I bought it from and they were starting he processnto replace the vehicle, literally as I was sitting there a new recall came in for the same type of seal issue but for the boot.

Who knows. I may have been getting water from both.

I'm still waiting to hear if and when it's approved by jaguar USA to replace. I'm starting to loose my patience a little now though.

Let's hope it gets replaced rather than another fix that we don't even know if it'll fix or not. Especially with all the water in there, I can only imagine where it all got into

Exactly. You have no idea what damage or issues will come down the line because of that water. Here is a picture of after the very next day after the last "fix"

....That is an insane amount of water. Way too many parts of the vehicle are compromised at this point. The potential for things like mold even are present. The only way they're really going to be sure is by ripping apart that whole interior, carpet and all

Really want to know how this ends up. I wouldn't accept anything but another car at this point, definitely wouldn't mind escalating things if needed because that is really unacceptable. Especially if this happened prior, and then happened again after they tried to "fix" it.

Yeah, it's been at the dealer now 2 weeks. I know the dealer agrees it needs to be replaced, I think Jaguar is the one holding it up. Which is not making me happy if that is the case. I know these things take time, it's ridiculous.

There is no way I'm accepting an offer to try a fix one more time. I will be escalating this week coming up though if I dont hear anything back.

Yeah so Jaguar rejected the replacement since it wasn't 3 times but Manhattan JLR said they would make good on it and eat the cost for me and then they would go after the dealer that messed it up twice.

Apparently the work was so bad at Paul Miller Jag in Madison NJ that they took pics and immediately sent it to Jaguar USA. Jag was going to go after them for reimbursement.

Anyway, I would have had to start a new finance for the same car. I asked what if I took it back cuz Manhattan said they tested extensively etc. I really didn't want to lose the 6 months I paid in.

So they said well you take it back if it happens again Jaguar has to replace it no questions asked and I don't start fresh on a finance.

Jag offered to pay two payments I said no, if I take it back I want extended warranty forget the payments.

They agreed. So I took the chance and took the car back. Not a drop in it since. The fact Manhattan was going to eat the cost showed me they were a really upstanding crew so I said you know what, I don't want them to eat the cost cuz Paul miller sucked. If it happens again I get a new one.

It's been a few months and everything has been good.

So anyone reading this in the NY NJ area and want a Jag, go see Roman at Manhattan JLR. He's the man.

Hopefully you get yours taken care of soon. It's definitely fixable. They got it right on mine.

I am experiencing the same problem after owning the car for 2 weeks. The dealership tried to tell me that I drove the car through a flood. They have since acknowledged that this is a leak--I believe it is the A-Pillar that is subject of a recall. They are fixing it now. Don't feel good about them delivering a new vehicle to me that had a known problem.

The issue with this problem is the absence of outer door seals. You will find that after driving in the rain that there is quite a 'tide mark' of muck inside the door sills where the spray is forced in along the lower door edge. Once in it does not easily drain out. Therefore the water tight integrity is relying on the one and only door seal which is very easily damaged by scrapes or compromised by other muck getting trapped between the door seal and the door opening seal. The B pillar is particularly vulnerable. Moral of the story, have these seals renewed at every service or risk having the inside smell like a swamp !

That's actually a pretty darn good deal. Smart to get the extended warranty instead of the two payments as well, it's far more valuable and will prove much more helpful down the line. That's probably one of the only cases where I would definitely feel inclined to urge people to go see them as they're some real stand up guys at Manhattan JLR.

I have a feeling that come time for people to ask about what to look for in used XE's, that will be one of them. Went in a few cars with that smell (other car makers) and its hard to get the smell out. Even some detailers can't get it out. With so many XE's out its easy to pivot to the next.

I have a new XE and discovered water in the rear passenger footwell. Used a wet dry vac and got rid of water but it remains wet. Not aware of a recall. Called the dealer and they will look into it

That's a shame, I never had this kind of issue with my JAG, although my friend from DSRLeasing had a minor leak - minor, so at least it was fixed by a dealer right away pretty quickly

Hi folks,

I found this forum/thread via googling and just registered to 'chime in' that I've just discovered a rear seat footwell (driver side) with fully saturated carpet and i'd say .25-.5 water after a long days rain...car not driven (i.e. stationary throughout rain period). The windows/sunroof all shut tight, only thing wet as far as I could quickly discern in dark is the foot well back seat driver side. Car has 1k miles on it but leak may have been there all along - just not noticed til' now (that I happened to touch that foot well carpet was quite by chance as I dropped something in there and felt the wetness as I reached around to find it in the dark)

I wanted to 'post' a message so that others who might find this issue might also stumble upon the thread. I'm going to type some 'tags' below that google might pick up by others searching this issue as well. Will also update folks with if/how the situation is resolved.

EDIT: the car is 2017 XE 35T R-Sport (I forgot to note the model)

Hi everyone,

Me again (see message directly above 11/8/17). After said event (above) I took it to dealership (not purchase dlrship as thats rather far away). Nevertheless, the dealership treated me superbly. It was so good it was almost unsettling based on what I'm used to from ford & audi.

ANYhoo, they replaced all 4 door seals and all carpet on the left side of the car. Gave me a brand new loaner as the service was done.

All seemed well but I've just found out today that the rear pax left side foot well is again sopping wet. This 'leak' issue at least in my vehicle is absolutely 100% -not- due to driving thru floods, etc. as I drive the car only once or twice every month or so. It's been sitting for ~month undrivien and was dry when I last left it...I'd just finally gotten the musty smell out in fact.

Obviously I'm disappointed, though I'm not angry or mad b/c they at least appeared to do their best to fix the issue and treated me very well in the process. But it looks like I'll have to see them again and hope resolution/cause can be found. What worries me most is that after the 1st episode I noticed 'condensation' in for example the rear 3rd light lens (INside), and noticed a few weird Audio/system 'quirks' that hadn't happened before (though might be totally coincidental I realize). Anyway moisture INside stuff esp when condensing and trapped so to speak is not a good thing. I hope badness isn't happening 'deep within' as by analogy can happen in a home that gets water in the walls after a significant leak etc.

But for this issue I love LOVE the car. Except oh also the plastic shift paddles. Those really annoy me for some reason.
